The Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) has set up rules for the ownership and function of classic cars in the UAE. There are six classic car categories in the UAE, namely they are categories A, B, C, D, E, and F. Category A comprises vehicles that are limited to only 10,000 km of mileage per year while the least enable category, category F comprises vehicles that can only be used for showroom purposes. In order to operate a classic car in the UAE an inspection and car registration must be undergone which can cost a total of AED 850.
Cars 30 years or older are considered classic cars in Dubai. Whereas in some areas across the globe 20 years is the minimum age of a classic car.
Yes. To import a classic car to Dubai, you must have a valid local visa, a local drivers license, and have the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) check your car before it is imported from its country of origin. It is important that the car not be damaged for it to pass the screening.
